Starting Over

Already Had Sex?

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen Health conducted a survey of teens who had sex, and the majority of those teens said they wished that they would have waited to have sex. This may be you. Even though you have had sex, it doesn’t mean you have to continue. Make a decision to not have sex. Have your friends keep you accountable, and keep in mind what you really crave. It’s never too late to start the rest of your life today.

It Wasn’t Your Choice. Now What?

First things first, you have to realize that you’re not alone. Unfortunately the numbers of young people who have been sexually abused in the United States are overwhelming. The second step is to realize that it wasn’t your fault. Often, victims of sexual abuse believe that they have done something to cause the abuse. It simply is not true. Next, tell a trusted adult about your experience. If you have been abused (or are being abused) talk with someone you trust and someone who can guide you to the right people. Finally, remember you can start over and commit to staying abstinent from this point forward.
